Revise the timing of CAN-KGQ-CAN Passenger, after official full extension to Kannur.
As it is a great relief that the train is extended upto Kannur and it is now serving almost complete North Malabar also. Kannur -Kasargod passenger special(06607) is leaving Kannur at 4.15am, with stops at Valapatnam (4.24am), Pappinisseri (4.29am),Kannapuram (4.37am), Payangadi (4.42am), Payyannur(4.54am), Thrikkarippur (5.01am), Chervathur (5.08am), Nileswaram (5.18am), Kanhangad (5.30am), Kottikulam(5.40am) and arrival at Kasargod at 6.35am. As continuation, from Kasargod, it will leave at 6.40AM. In return, Kasargod-Kannur passenger special(06606) is leaving Kasargod at 6.55pm, stopping at Kottikulam (7.06pm), Kanhangad (7.17pm), Nileswaram (7.21pm), Chervathur(7.39pm), Thrikkarippur (7.47pm), Payyannur (7.55pm),Payangadi (8.08pm), Kannapuram (8.18pm), Pappinissery(8.25pm), Valapatnam (8.35pm) and arrive at Kannur at 8.55pm. Between Kannur&Kasargod, Kannur-Managalore Passenger(56655) has 15

stops(1hr&58mts), Malabar Express(16629) has 11 stops(1hr&53mts) and TVC-MAQ Express(16347) has 9 stops(1hr&39 mts) and the new Passenger Special(06607) has just 10 stops. Now the running time from Kannur to Kasargod is 2 hours&20 minutes for this train. This running time can be reduced to just 1hr 50 minutes, by leaving Kannur at 5.00AM(same time of Executive Express) and can reach Kasargod at 6.50AM and leave Kasargod just after 2 minutes. By doing so, 10 minutes can be again reduced by reducing long compensation and halting time(just 5 minutes) at Mangalore Junction and leave Managalore Junction at 8.05, as per the existing schedule. As the existing schedule is creating hard time to leave the train at 4.15AM, which is so early at Kannur. Departure from Kannur at 5AM is much convenient and arrival at Byndoor can be also the same at 11.50AM, with more passengers, as 5AM is more convenient departure time. Also, the train can be extended upto Murdeshwar(having 2 platforms), which is also pilgrimage/tourist centre just 30km north of Byndoor(having only 1 platform). The arrival at Murdeshwar can be 12.20PM and Departure to Kasargod/Kannur from Murdeshwar can be 13.30hrs, leaving Byndoor at 2PM and arriving Kasargod at 6.53PM and leaving Kasargod at 6.55PM as per the existing schedule and arriving Kannur at 8.55PM(existing schedule). So, there is a very good saving of time on both the journeys. As of now, it is running as two separate trains, the proposed timing is not possible. Once it becomes official to run as a single train, the proposed timing can be implemented and there will be a considerable great time saving and run as Kannur-Murdeshwar Passenger.

As the Railways is planning to release the Time Table only on October-1-2015, instead of July 1st, official extension to Kannur is expected only in the new time table. As it is a great relief for the whole passengers all over India to increase the speed and reduce the running time of trains considerably. Almost 50% of the trains' timing are expected to be revised, as the Railways are still following the same speed and running time at time of the train's introduction. As an example, 12284 Nizamuddin – Ernakulam Duronto, if diverted through Nagpur- Vijayawada route(2807km) having electrified double tracks, instead of Konkan Railway single non-electrified route, the train will take just around 35 hours to reach Ernakulam against 42 hours(2640km) now through KRCL, eventhough 167km more via Vijayawada route, but saving against the loco changing and single track running. As of the current...

situation, most of the Durontos are running much slower than Rajdhani expresss, but in practical Durontos should be atleat 10% faster than Rajdhani express, with zero or technical stops. CAN-SBC Express, Ernad Express, Netravati Express, etc are already taking more than 3 hours extra as clearly pure waste of time in both the directions. Hope, these time loss are expected to be eliminated in the new Time Table in October. Also, by installing more electronic signals, the speed of the trains can be considerably increased, as it is now electrified and double from Trivandrum to Calicut and expected upto Mangalore soon. Unfortunately, some trains like Vanchinad express, CAN-ERS Intercity Express, Executive Express, etc are running much slower than the total running time during the initial time, with much more stops. Alapppuzha-Bokaro Express has been running as a snail for years. Hope there will be a considerable change. As it is well known that the time table change is a heavy duty task to change the schedule all over India, without affecting the other, a special team of expertise should be formed and specialized softwares shall be developed to revise the entire time table, considering the condition of tracks, signalling system, coach/engine conditions, number of passengers and the traffic in the line.
