IndianTrainFanonTwitter~ 10340 blog postsThis train should be the last option for traveling between Howrah and Jalandhar after other Punjab bound trains. It has too many stoppages, unusual departure time from Howrah and takes 36 Hours rather than 26 Hours during the 1980s.
During the 1970s and 1980s, the Himgiri Exp had a tight schedule with limited stoppages at Asansol, Patna Jn, Mughalsarai, Varanasi, Lucknow, Bareilly, Moradabad, Saharanpur, Ambala Cantt, Ludhiana and Jalandhar Cantt. The train even departed Howrah at 6 AM and would reach Jalandhar Cantt within 26 Hours by next morning. Now stoppages, especially on Main Line Route (Asansol - Patna - Mughalsarai) have increased, the departure time from Howrah is erratic (11:50 PM) and other trains like Durgiana Exp, etc. are given higher priority over the Himgiri Express :(
Himgiri used to take 30.5 hours from HWH to JAT halting at ASN, PNBE, BSB, LKO, MB, UMB, LDH, JRC, CHKB. No MGS, BE and SRE
