123 tonnes is the mass of the loco. Weight acts vertically. This doesn't have much significance in this crash. This incident happened due to the abrupt change in the combined linear momentum of the Double Decker train as well as loco. As a matter of fact, force is the rate of change of momentum (Newton ji, tussi great ho _/\_) :)

Where exactly was the fault? LPs bring the train to a halt using the air brakes in a 3-phase loco. Regenerative brake is used to bring the speed down to 10-20 km/h.
I guess the LP didn't react in time :)

Bro please check out my post again
I strictly based my calculations on F=MA..............
I admit I took some liberty in my calculations, ideally I should have taken the horizontal component of total forces....:P.
BTW....linear Momentum is directly proportional to the mass :P

Thanks for the technical analysis.
Moral of the story.
Never mess with a railway engine.
