A query to members.
We all see loco pilots and guards carrying walkie talkies with them. What do they actually communicate before start, during the course of journey etc?
What is the language of communication since trains might be moving between different states and loco pilots and guards need to not necessarily speak the same language
Is there any standard protocol, language etc that

To my knowledge they just interact with each other for safety problems and their measures ..
Hindi is the official language but they can also chat on native language if they know ..
At station premises they chat regarding ..
Brake pass certificate, proper vaccum level..various tsr or psr enroute ..
Any

medic issues and more ..
They also interact and give real time status when their duty shift changes to new staff or to each other..
So that new comers can get the knowledge and run train safely.
And normal gossips also happen.
Heard many times.

Normal gossips happen !!!?.....That is a good one. It is quite surprising to see how these walkie talkies are used especially in stretches where lots of tunnels are there [Konkan railways]. Considering some of them are quite long i am not too sure whether communication can happen when trains cross tunnels.
