said there is a growing demand to expedite the ongoing projects by financing and monitoring through joint ventures/special purpose vehicles with state governments. This will include surveys, preparation of detailed project report (DPR) and getting requisite approvals, processing for sanctioning and monitoring of identified projects, including last mile connectivity, capacity enhancement and station redevelopment projects, said an official.
Each JV would have an initial paid up capital of Rs100 crore. Based on the quantum of projects to be undertaken, the authorized equity share capital and the paid up capital can be enhanced from time to time with the approval of the Railway Board and the state government.
Karnataka government was the first state to set up a JV company with railways for taking up railway projects in its state. The railway stations under the β€˜model station scheme, would have basic facilities such as electronic information of arrival, departure, television display of sequence of coaches etc.
