agree..pgt is best in terms of cleanliness .but it requires more trains orginating from pgt
PGT don't have pitline, which means train will have to start from place where pitlines are there. Even PGT don't have parking space. Already memu and nil passenger is using goods yard. That was one of the reason, amrita was extended to PGTN. Chances of extending train which originate from PGT are high. Best eg is MAQ ICE(even though it was for good)
I don't think PGT div has any plan to start trains from PGT. That is another reason why POY-PGTN specials are made to run only till PGTN. But may be with 5th PF coming into serivce, we can expect few trains from PGT in newly commissioned line

In Kerala as of now only ERS & TVC [Kochuveli] seem to be the 2 stations from where trains can be started. We do have the odd 1-2 train from Kanuur, SRR & Kollam. Palakkad station really needs to have significant space and expansion for trains to start from here.
Yes..lack of pitline is one problem PGT is facing. But, still I believe they can afford few trains to start from PGT also with better signalling facilities now and with the 5th platform in place. Also, during the Meter-Gauge era, PGT comfortably handled 6 to 7 trains without having pitline facilities. Trains whose rakes remain idle for longer period of time requires pitline facilities more often than the others. So, I think most of the trains originating from PGT which I believe strongly will be there in the upcoming Oct TT would be in such a way that there would be minimal parking time available. PGT division should consider starting a pitline at Palghat Town atleast if there is space constraints at PGT with a possibility of more services expected in this route.
The old good shed in town station can be easily converted to a pitline. There are vast areas available with railways in PGTN. Earlier an sleeper factory used to operate at PGTN during MG days & trains from PGT needs to go through that to reach PGTN.
