The pilot of an express train mistakenly drove the loco engine along an unused pitline at RSmathur station near ariyalur.As there was no power line after a certain point of the track loco came to a halt.averting a major accident.

dead end pit line.Instead of taking the track alloted for the train.If the engine had gone further,it could have been a disaster.The incident took place on 2.30 am on wednesday,they said.
Offcials rushed to the spot and conducted an enquiry.It came to light when loco pilot Edwin Sahayaraj had mmistakenly took the unused pit linento halt for a signal.After a detailed investigation,the loco pilot was put under suspension.
The strandled engine and wagons were pulled from behind using another engine which was brought from ariyalur and placed on the right track.The train departed at 4.50am.The process delayed 3 other express trains
