I personally feel that British did a blunder while partitioning Bengal in 1947.

so what? nothing to do with partition ir cant satisfy all regions
You should write that ''The British did Blunder while Partitioning India itself". But that would also be partially correct only because the Britishers were not the sole culprit, some ignorant people from both sides holds the Major responsibility too.
Not just the route is long, it is also very precarious; the chicken neck section, through which the line towards NE crosses is extremely thin (hence the name) and unlike other parts of India where if train route gets blocked you have other options, here simply none exists as the alternatives go via other country.
partition should have been bases making river Brahmaputra[Jamuna in Bangladesh as border]
