Quick guide for Kodaikanal bound tourists from MDU.
1) Exit from the station. Walk ahead. Take a right turn.
2) Walk to the traffic signal to reach Periyar bus-stand.
3) Take a local bus to Arapalayam bus stand. Bus#48 is one of them. It'd take 15 minutes and Rs.9/- in the bus.

do you have timings of buses from kodaikanal to madurai in afternoon, as per your info the last bus to madurai is at 17.15 however in the chart the last bus is at 19.15 so guess this is the arrival time of this bus at madurai.
Is it possible to get a seat in madurai in morning on sunday between 7-9 am at madurai and at kodaikanal between 3 and 5 pm on sunday. Planning to go in mid july

It is totally possible, you just need to be quick and board the bus as soon as it arrives.
I went there on long weekends, and managed to get a seat. So not that tough.

The 7PM departure bus from Kodai may or may not be available. Suggest you to depart before 5.

Not too rash, the drivers are pretty experienced.
Reservation is on spot, advance reservation isn't allowed in my knowledge.
