Generating operating surplus right from the day 1 of the operation is a very big achievement for hilly KR in spite of the fact that the Manglore port was not included in its territory as per initial plans. Under the able leadership of Mr. Sreedharan, KR had always resorted to innovative ways of functioning right from construction phase to commissioning and then operating. It has very well overcome the geological challenges of terrain, financial difficulties and remained afloat since last 2 decades. It generated revenues from taking up projects for other organizations, introduces RORO trains etc and thrived in spite of almost no fund infusion for capacity augmentation. Whole KR team deserves a recognition for their achievement.
