only movie where the central character is a rail fan is as I mentioned above. It is good little movie. The central character Peter Dinklage is a dwarf; who works in a rail hobby shop. When the owner dies, he bequeathes an old building by rail track side in rural America to him. So Peter retires and lives his life in that building watching trains always.

Then try 'Sunshine Cleaning (2008)', there - a side character is a railfan. But unlike us she is not into locos or routes but she loves standing below the rail bridge when train passes at night and loves the sparks, generated by the wheel and track, falling on her face. That is the only thing that brings joy to her struggling life.
