Railway minister inaugurates railway station, stresses on private participation :-
Puttur, Nov 6: Union railway minister, Suresh Prabhu, said that the process of turning all the railway stations into model stations has already been set into motion but observed that the railway department or government alone cannot hope to complete this task on their own. Adding that private participation is very much felt to achieve the said goal, he said that development initiatives with private participation would be undertaken by railways henceforth.

MP, Nalin Kumar, stated that railway department, a service-oriented department, has been fast achieving its objective of turning railway stations into modern facilities like international airports. He said that when Sadananda Gowda was the railway minister, he had provided special grants for development of this railway station.
MLA, Shakuntala Shetty, who expressed happiness about the transformation of the railway station, wished that more development works will take place, and more trains will be run to Bengaluru towards meeting aspirations of the people. She noted that the link road to railway station from Haradi which is very much needed to be developed, needs funds. She said that out of Rs 17 lac needed for the road she has released five lac rupees, and asked the remaining Rs 12 lac to be released by the MP and railway department. She also wanted APMC underpass and widening of bridge near Vivekananda College to be taken up on war footing.
Reacting to the demand for frequent trains, Nalin said that railway track doubling work has already been taken up from Subrahanya, which he said would be completed by May next. He said that fast trains will be introduced in course of time to Bengaluru.
Taluk panchayat president, Bhavani Chidanand, municipal president, Jayanti Balnad, south-western divisional railway manager, Atul Gupta, and other railway officials were present.
Lecturer, Rajesh Bejjangala welcomed. Harshita Bejjangala compered the programme. On this occasion, saris were gifted to women who undertook cleanliness work in the railway station.
