No. It looks like that in pic, but the track is not so far in real. Even I did railfanning there, even though zoom capacity of mine was low, I was helped by other RF in spotting the loco details. A cam with decent telescope lens is enough. Even if sir couldn't manage with his cam, he was surely accompanied by fellow RF who has a point and shoot cam with powerful zoom.

yeah as Sairam mentioned, i try to take 1-2 close up pic to get the loco information....then try to take a wide angle shot....Luckily in this location, we can see train for almost 2 kms and at one point it comes a bit close amidst trees where you can go for a close up shot and when train is entering bridge, prefer wide angle shot :)
