What are the consequences if the senior citizen passenger, who has availed the the senior citizen concession, is unable to show his/her age identity proof on board?
If the ID proof is not available then the difference of amounts has to be paid by the passenger.
Passngr should inform TTE while TTE come to check ticket. TTE can collect difference of fare. no penalty.
The issue regarding charging of senior citizens traveling on concession, who do not produce age proof during journey, has been examined. MINISTRY OF RAILWAYS HAVE DECIDED THAT IN SUCH CASES, ONLY THE DIFFERENCE OF CONCESSIONAL FARE PAID AND NON-CONCESSIONAL FARE PAYABLE SHALL BE CHARGED. PENALTY WILL NOT BE CHARGED IN SUCH CASES. Necessary instructions have been issued to all concerned immediately.
