Train 16525 / 16526 must be diverted via Salem - Erode - Karur - Dindigul - Madurai - Virudhunagar - Kovilpatti - Tirunelveli - Nagercoil to reach / depart from Kanniyakumari because there is not enough trains for Salem, Erode and Karur passengers to reach the South TN. Do not talk about 16609 / 16610 and 17235 / 17236.
Yes, you are right your view and agree.even i checked list of train to South. It is very few when i wanted to reach RMM from madurai.
However Island Exp is considered to be train for Keralites.
Even for Coimbatore, No dedicated Train from Bangalore. Island is 2nd Option next to Kurla if seats are unavailable.

not needed instead if nemom developed ISLAND can be short terminated at nemom or if KCVL YPR made daily and extended to TVC this can be short terminated at KCVL. NCJ TEN have NCJ SBC TN MDU have TN MYS and TPJ TJ have MYS MV. PDY have triweekly to sbc. RMM KKDI have no trains to sbc which needs to be adressed than this diversion
on talking of ED KRR they have CBE NCJ. once POY line opens then surely train RMM CBE and SCT CBE will be in tracks that time load of NCJ CBE will get splits making ED TUP KRR to get major share than CBE. so i dont think this is necessary. one more option possible is making NCJ CBE and ED TEN as express and introduce DEMU for intermediates.
