* 65lac disgruntled Project Affected People in a single state, Maharashtra, 49000 PAPs for a single Konkan Rly project struggling for rehabilitation is a very grim situation. It means that 6% of population is waiting for rehabilitation which is almost impossible for cash strapped state govts/ central govt. Some thing is not right with the relevant laws or its implementation.
* Land acquisition laws have to be practical and balanced, it should promote the creation of new infrastructure in the interest of nation, and should give fair price for the land to the land owner and help them with facilities like training etc for their rehabilitation.

In some of the projects there had been demand of many times the market price of land acquired, along with a job to a kin and a share in new factory/ infrastructure by people, whose land had been acquired for infrastructure projects.
* If a Infrastructure projects like KR require little land acquisition from about 50,000 people. It would be very difficult to construct new roads & rail lines in future unless the land acquisition laws & procedures are rationalized & streamlined.
