RM Suresh Prabhu today launched the first completely solar powered Demu (will not run on solar power). The solar panels installed at the top of this 6 coach Rake will provide auxiliary power to the coaches. This will save around 21,000 litres of Diesel costing around 12 lakhs per annum.

Its a think of IR that it would save 21000 L p.a
but in reality figures would be different. 1.As rainy season no sunlight than no solar power they will move on again to the previous style.2. In night how would it run .
When they cant run 12951 bct rajdhani constantly on HOG (yesterday at BVI i spotted it with front EOG on and rear EOG off )

Sir Solar panel see direct electricity Supply nahi hoti, Batteries hote Hai. Waha power storage hota Hai to aisa nahi hoga ki jaise baadal chayenge coach k lights, fans off ho jayenge.
Sir can u explain this logic of IR that inspite of having FEDL btwn BSR-DIVA
than why there are operating DEMU train on that route as MEMU trains are also there on that route.
If RM is very concious for preserving fuel than this DEMU should be replaced with MEMU.
