One point of difference between grand chord and main line is that there are just about the same number of crawlers on either line but grand chord handles the crawlers in a manner that they seldom get delayed..
I have had the sheer privilege of travelling in two crawlers on a number of occasions..
18624 and 18622..

giving one halt on either side of paharpur.. in most cases it's either gujhandi or tankuppa..
18624 is close to 50 years old and despite being one of the most decorated crawlers on IR network never gets delayed..
18622 on the other hand will on average run with a delay of about an hour..
This has got something to do with controlling among other things
