This side berths, particularly the berth number 7,8, and 71,72 closer to the doors in the sleeper class are most vulnerable for such thefts. Whenever I get a side berth allotted, I make a point to keep my baggages deep inside the bay (Beneath the longer berths). Instead of using a chain and lock, I put the strap of my baggage around the loops, so it takes a few seconds more to unfasten the strap and lift the baggage. Hope this will help in other in ensuring safety of the baggages.

I always prefer SLB and during sleep I sleep in such a way that I put my legs on my bag and sleep and if anybody comes near me I wake up...
U r write up is good sir, benefit for those who got those SLB / SUB. It is better carry chains to lock d baggage.

You are right. I do the same when I carry one small bag or when one of the bags contains more valuable article like laptop camera etc. It is the safest way to protects one's baggages. Only large baggages I keep it inside the long berth bay.
