Kovai Express is one of the fastest Intercity Expresses in India and is certainly the fastest Intercity in South India for decades now. Yet for some reason it does not get the recognition or prestige a Vaigai or Karnavati gets. The saving grace is that It has not been reduced to shambles like Brindavan. In this year's timetable, they have slowed Kovai down by another 5 mts. Already 12676 suffers delays due to its running time close to CBE-MAS Shatabdi which overtakes Kovai between KPD and WJR. Instead SR could have made a small tweak through which Kovai can start just after Shatabdi and trail all the way to MAS. Wonder why SR did not pursue other options instead of slowing Kovai down?
