Good Afternoon Friends
It's a good news for Patna that from 9th Feb, 2018 Howrah - New Delhi Durranto will permanently go via Patna twice in a week (bi-weekly). Good time table from both sides.

According to new TAG, this will take 4:30 hours extra to travel after changing to new route. Why is this? poorva takes almost same time in both routes.

Because Poorva Express via Gaya goes through Varanasi, so extra time taken by Poorva Express (via Patna) is compensated with extra time taken by Poorva Express (via Gaya) by going through Varanasi. Both of the trains follow same timings from Allahabad onwards.
Even Howrah Rajdhani (via Patna) takes more time than Howrah Rajdhani (via Gaya) as both of them follow direct route unlike Poorva Express.
