True, but lesser power is required for a 16-coach load. Sure, you can give WDP-4D, but it will be a waste.
And I had myself travelled in this train last year. It was comfortably going forward. Loco is not an issue in this route. Clearance is. But, WDM-3D is ideal for 19-coach load. EMD is good with 22 and above coaches.
Technically asking...what is operating cost for both the loco per kms?
Operating cost of WDM-3A is more than WDP-4D. But, WDM-3A is much more available in PTRU Diesel Loco Shed.
EMD will mostly be given to Premier Trains because it is modern.
