Too early to decide the new loco's performance. After all it is built from the most successful and reliable locomotives to have operated in IR so far. It has a fair chance of being a good performer. And even if it's performance is not up to the mark, the new loco is only being built to better utilize the components in the older locomotives instead of selling them as scrap. A working locomotive is always better than a scrapped locomotive. :)

* With large number of electrification projects already kick started by IR, it is clear that electrification of almost 100% BG routes is inevitable. It will happen may be in next 6 yrs or 12 years.
* Success of Diesel-Electric dual loco depends on many factors like:
(1) Technical performance of loco-operational flexibility, reliability, maintenance, weight, etc.
(2) Cost of Diesel-Electric loco
...
as compared to Eloco with respect to manufacture as well as maintenance.
* best use of dual loco should be normal operation on electric traction and using diesel traction during acceleration or during the power failure or fault in power supply.
