It will serve more people if this train is extended till NDLS or beyond, the HWH Kalka "express" is a passenger train!!
KSJ-MTJ line not connected with MTJ- NDLS Mainline.

Technically possible. Basava Express passes Hotgi Jn. twice but halts only once.
