In a meeting of CM Pinarayi Vijayan and the Railway board chairman, an agreement has been reached on conducting a study for laying a 3rd & 4th track parallel to the existing line between Thiruvananthapuram & Kasargod

Chairman has informed that Southern railway will be instructed to develop a new terminal on the land of old Ernakulam station. Thiruvananthapuram Central, Kochuveli & Varkala stations will be included in the modernization scheme
Board chairman has assured that railways will consider transforming the proposed coach factory in Palakkad into a factory for building metro coaches.
Discussions on the development of Thalassery-Mysuru railway will be held after the elections to Karnataka legislative assembly.
Chairman has also assured that requests for Nemom Station development, use of modern coaches in trains to the State & Kochuveli station development will be considered favourably.
It was also decided to conduct review of rail development in Kerala on a monthly bassis
