These stations of Kolkata are way more known to people than hijli...even in case of cheokki during initial days the names was unchanged but after getting feedback Railway decided to include allahabad as well to remove confusion for tourist as well as first time travellers.....I think hijli would also meet the same fate with it's name being changed to kharagpur hijli or kharagpur south.... something like that
nehi hoga..kuch station pe name ke sath emotional attachment rehta hai..change ka proposal iske pehle bohot saare station pe aya tha..lekin bas isi reason se nehi hua..so as of now name cgange is not possible..girimaidan ko kgp girimaidan ka proposal bhi aaya yha iske pehle aur bhi bohot saare
People will get used to it as time passes.....if local members are against name change then it shouldn't happen
no problem guys.....but one year down the line when more north bound trains start getting diverted via hijli,i can see it being renamed with more development works taking place there
