Globetrot 406 blog postsI'm on a backpacking holiday and arriving MAJN around 8 am by 16517 and taking the 12134 to Madgaon around 2pm. Couple of questions:
1. Is there a left-luggage facility? Can I leave my bag here for a couple of hours?

That would be better option. Mangalore is a small city though. Ideal and Pabbas are famous for their ice-creams. Mangalore junction is around 20 mins away from city center. You need to depend on private autos or cabs.
Cloak rooms are under construction. Mangalore Junction is about 4 kilometers from the main city area but well within the city limits. You can walk upto the highway and get a bus to go towards the city or you can hire an Uber. Ideals Ice cream parlour is about 15 minutes away/4 kilometers from MAJN. For seafood, you can visit Giri Manjas. Ask any auto driver and he'll take you there. Fares are very reasonable and the sea food served there is the best!
Don't fall for some of the exaggerated things about MAJN. It is well within city limits and is totally accessible by bus, auto or Uber/Ola. If you're coming by 16517, get off at MAQ instead and explore...

New KSRTC city buses run upto the underpass near MAJN which is about 500 meters from MAJN.
