Raxaul is the station located close to India - Nepal border. Outside station, you get plenty of electric rickshaws, cycle rickshaw along with cabs to reach Birgunj and places beyond that in Nepal. Road is not in good condition due to heavy traffic.
On the way, you can exchange currency as many shops cater to that. Border is around 2 kms, but there will be lot of traffic.

Yeah its accepted. But in day to day activities, change problem appears as 100 INR = 160 Nepali rupees. So while giving change, one has to calculate and give, if they get confused, they will end up paying half in INR and half in NC.
