Screen Name/Permanent Name.
It is a well-known fact on this site that members like to be creative with their names, and change them according to occasions and events. This often leads to confusion among others as to who is who. In order to resolve this situation, and without inhibiting our members' creativity, a new "Permanent Name" is now associated with everyone's profile.

default, everyone's current Screen Name appears as their Permanent Name as well. So, NO extra fields need to be filled out. The login/signup process is also exactly the same as before. Members who don't change their names DO NOT have to do anything.
But, if you wish to change your current Screen Name, you will have to assign yourself a Permanent Name. You will not be allowed to change your current Screen Name till you do so. You may choose any "Permanent Name" you want, but once you assign it, you cannot change it. Your permanent name will always associated with your member profile. After this, you may change your Screen Name as often as you like.
Your Blog Posts, News, PNR, etc. will show your current Screen Name. But the tooltip and your Member Profile page will always show your Permanent Name.
Once again, members who don't change their names, do not have to do anything.
