Thoothukudi also known as Tuticorin is a city in southern Tamil Nadu. Tuticorin is also known as "Pearl City" (Muthu Nagar in Tamil) as it is traditionally known for its pearl fishing industry.

Actually this also has name as muthunagar Express among loclaities similarly as Rock fort is called malai kottai in local language
1.Pearl means Muthu and City means Nager in tamil language so this name came by the local residents of tuticorin.
2.Rockfort temple was called as Malaikottai in trichy city. So these two names were unofficial names.
