SRC is much well connected to Kolkata rather than SHM.. Getting transportation from SRC is much more convenient rather than SHM.. And township at SRC is rising up by leaps and bounds...
Even if it starts from SHM, it has to pass via SRC I guess.
Then there would be no harm in giving a halt @ SRC.
Of course, the length of the PF would be a problem still.

Most probably due to geographical problem, the length of the platform cannot be increased.. On one side, there are numerous points where the HWH- KGP Lines and the SHM- SRC lines meet. And on the other side, the A.C.C. Lines gets diverged via points and a flyover from the HWH-KGP Lines.. So the station is virtually blocked in both the directions..
