Two train one platform not much of a space left.It Seems The Smet has Reached its maximum Capacity and cant accommodate any new Trains Especially on Tuesdays
The Lines of pf1-2 are used by Up-Down Trains So only pf-3 is left to be used as stabling line

There are in total 7 line and 3 platforms and no Pitlines
1 main line , 3 loop line ,1 Stabling Line.
The 3rd loop line and a Stabling line Which Is not connected on the other end of main line is used as Freight Loading/Unloading Line, 2 extra siding lines with Max capacity of 6-8 Coaches one of which is Occupied by Medical Emergency Vehicle. The New Terminal Is far from Reality which was said to be at Kotegangur 8 Kms /blog/post/4343023. High possibility is that the freight Line 4-5 Can be shifted Making way for Construction Of new pf 4-5 .Except this There is not much of Railways land Left at Smet. The other possibility is to extend trains to tlgp Which too almost Reached it's capacity may be 1-2 trains at Max left. Or to use loop lines at KMSI 30 Kms or Bdvt 18 Kms

In future they may go for one more PF 4 to accommodate one more stabling line. In fact their are no more freights run on this section it seems so which is lucky that in fact having 7 lines with 3 PF it can be made to control trains at SMET. The stations which fall on main trunk or heavy frieght routes tend to get extra loop lines and if station is major city then sure it get new PF..

Yes this Line Doesn't Get much of a Freight. Once in a while you can spot them at Smet and even less on Smet-tlgp line. Bdvt gets more freight due To Iron and steel industry VISL. And in 7 lines 2 are Extra Sidings Ending Before Station Main Building. So only 5 are Usable.
1.On left Extra Siding Line. On right There is quite a space between 4-5 Line which can easily accommodate new platform

3.private Property, Road on the Way. So the buffer for the 5th track and so does for any further Development towards tlgp

Yes railways do have plans but they never implement them.. Actually plans will be on papers in zonal and Divisional office but no officer gona put effort and take initiative to go ahead until some pressure fall on them for that from Local MP through RB. Many stations have more plans but none have implementation. The plans in whose in charge get ready that officer get transferred to some other division or zone then that file will be on hold only..As per present situation SMET with 3 PF can handle still more trains perhaps with better controlling.. Lot of stations with just 3 PF handle more loads just need good way of Train control..

Totally Agree With You. We can't blame Low Tier Railways Official Either what they can do. It's the High Level Official They has to be blamed and every RB. It looks like British Indian Railways were Operating much better than current Railways For British It Was Freight Which was important And In a way it Indirectly Helped Passengers. If this format of development would have followed after Independence station like Bellary Hpt kzq and most of NK UK could have got there Fare Share that would have been a lions Share. But I slightly disagree with you on Smet handling more trains it only can a little more. if freight is shifted. The prime example is MAQ with less platforms it handles train to every part of the country because It has the resources. Shimoga has none just 5 tracks in that 2 for freight so only 3 for passengers and...

I said they can accommodate to handle more trains from SMET but they have to shift that freight lines / Goods Loading unloading area to some other place like how in Belagavi and Bijapur recently decided to accommodate more lines to handle traffic. Goods Godown of Belagavi is shifting to Sambre it seems and Goods Loading area of Bijapur to Aliyabad station towards Solapur.. A perfect industrial area where goods loading points should be. SMET if have such option then they can do same their too.
