Mumbai metro has decided to clear the Aarey forest colony and adjacent green belt near Mithi river and make a car shed depot there. A debate has ensued on between environmentalists and Metro Administration.
It cites the carbon emission reduction in the metropolis after full fledged metro operation starts and that it will grow replacement sapling plantation in another parts.
While environmentalist cite another reasons apart from air cleaning like flooding prevention and ground water conservation.

Maha CM from Shiv sena halts the metro shed work but the damage has already been done. MMOPL already having cut designated number of trees in record time of 2 days at lightening speed.

Instead the project should be shifted to some other location, while this company should be asked to plant and maintain the trees in the cleared area...As fresh air is much more needed than metro shed...Trees honge toh metro waale log jinda reh payenge...nhi toh kum trees ke karan Dilli ke haal sabko dikhai dete hai...

These politicians or anyone who don't seem to care about climate change are literally some idiots I should say. They don't think about the survival of future generations. Bas gas chodni hai hawa main. Mumbai is going to be one of the most affected due to global warming because it is a low lying area. It's high time they realized that.
