West Coast Express and MAQ-MS Express can be diverted via SBHR-Kunigal......and instead of that a new MAQ-TBM/MS Express(via CAN-CLT-PGTN-POY) should be introduced...The main benefits are :
1.Utilisation of MAQ - HAS and PGTN - POY - DG Lines
2. POY - MS Connection via shorter route
3. Effective rake utilisation maybe WC/Egmore Express can be brought into

If not new trains atleast extension to MAQ surely of that ICE.
The pitlines there will be used for SWR.
Or if KR takes over, then KR trains. No more dumping KL / TN trains there.
That will be a great beginning....

Agreed, a move to KR, while still having the same problems for HAS bound traffic, will make it easier to run Northbound trains.
The revenue for the railways isn't calculated like that.
For example, if NMPT pays the railways 1 Crore (just a random number for illustration) for a full coal rake from NMPT to SBC, then the revenue is split like this -
1) A small fraction (usually 5% for passenger trains, I don't the know the exact number though) - roughly 5% will be set aside for the zone handling the loading, in this case 5 lakhs for SR.

To add to your point Excerpt from a news item earlier this year when the MAQ MP went with a request for moving MAQ to a diff division
" Creating a separate division for Mangaluru poses technical and financial issues as the operational area is split under zonal railways–South Western and Southern Railway, and Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd and Hassan Mangalore Rail Development Company Ltd. Since corporations are independent entities under the ministry with a different shareholding pattern, it will not be easy to run rough shod over them "
