I have myself travelled in this train in CC from NZM to BVI last year. Be sure that you will not have a very comfortable experience. The coaches were clean ans well maintained. however, there would be 6 seats in a row. Seats are smaller and leg room is also less as compared to CC in other trains. Lights would remain on throughout the night. Many passengers get down at Vadodara and Surat after which u may be able to sleep on the 3 seats till Mumbai. I would suggest you tray for tatkal in 3AC for same train, and although chances are very difficult, if you manage to get confirmed in tatkal, you will surely have a comfortable journey.

You are perfectly right. CC in GR trains is not at all comfortable for ling journey like NZM - BVI.
It is the last option when somebody is just not able to get any reservation.
