Instead of extending a legendary and old train like Purushottam express, MP JSR and MP PRR should come forward with the extension of Neelanchal and Nandan Kanan Express respectively. It will serve both of them.
Neelanchal would cater to JSR & BKSC (some parts of PRR district ) and Nandan Kanan would take care of BQA, PRR (ADRA) . Win win for or, mp prr can should ask for diversion of neelanchal via prr because it give more passengers than muri anyday.

but puru have more lay over than Neelachal.
In fact Neelachal has more legacy than Purushottam.
If politics hae damaged Neelachal giving a lot more stoppages like mandrak or firoza bad as it did to puru giving paharpur rafigunj chandil crp.
till 1985 neelachal routed via bsb-ald and its stoppages also was limited.

train should be started from Src with stoppages at mecheda and kgp
All trains from Orissa to Delhi serve a well defined purpose and should therefore not be extended.. rahi baat Purulia ki toh aisa bhi koi demand nhi h udhar se, na Delhi ka, na north ya west mein kahin aur ka.. purushottam k patronage mein Purulia koi jhande nhi gaad rha h aur certainly pure train ka destiny bas ek Purulia decide nhi krega When there are much bigger cities enroute

Yes, the ideal option is obviously a new train. Purushottam initially I think had less than 10 stops between Puri-NDLS once upon a time ( I might be wrong)...but look at what has happened now. For Jaipur i think new train is the right move though getting slot/path is where it always gets stuck !
