MSL Mentioned On Stations Boards Are Never Used For Operational Purpose On The Go. Though These Information Are Used For Construction Purpose For Calculation Of Elevation/Gradient Of Section. When British Started Laying Railway Lines, Stations Sprung Up At Remote Locations Where There Was No BenchMark For Construction Purpose. So After Construction Of Platform ±MSL Was Mentioned on Station Board For Reference Purpose. Other Construction Such As Station Complex, Maintenance Facilities, Sheds Etc Were Constructed With Respect To Level Of Platform Or Say Based On ±MSL Mentioned on Board. In Olden Days It Was Though Task To Calculate Elevation WRT MSL, So Elevation Were Calculated And Mentioned For Information Or To Act As Benchmark. With Advancement of Technology Elevation Now Can Be Calculate More Precisely & In Less Time, So Many New Boards Don't Have ±MSL Indicated. Indicating ±MSL Are Good Practice & Good Sign Boards Should Indicates Such Things. They Have...
