Earlier it got extended to ASR... but could not manage timings so reverted that extn. Later it got extended to Haridwar -- YNRK
77/78 Utkal inaugurated as Bi-Weekly in 1969 (Later Tu, Th, Sa, Su) while less stop Weekly 143/44 Kalinga (later We, Fr) forayed later & both got merged in 1983 to become Daily!!
Route & Schedule was same but with different stops: Kalinga got less stops (KGP, TATA, CKP, ROU, JSG, RIG, BSP) while Utkal got extra stops (JGM, GTS, SINI, GP, BRJN, BPH & only 6 stations skip in RIG-BSP)!!
