Reduced berth width keep MB hinges placed lower than usual 3A Coach to accomodate compact fitting of MB with LB which when open reduce MB/LB in between space!!
Upper berth is never comfortable to sit & seems to be hinged at usual space!!
I guess a bit more space comes in for MB traveler!!

The width of the berth has been reduced slightly and the leg space has also been reduced, I mean the feet touch the front passenger. It is very uncomfortable to say a word. And the biggest problem is for the middle berth and upper berth people, the poor people cannot even sit on their berths. Once you lie down, lie down, if your feet are itchy, you can't even bend your feet to scratch.
I mostly try to book side lower birth and luckily most of the time get this birth. I usually avoid to travel on LB or MB, which is mostly uncomfortable in trains.
These coach will be used for overnights where people has nothing but just to get in and sleep!!
I think leg space is compromised more than GR (which got Berth Count raised coz of SMB) but it's Fare allure SL & 3A travelers!
But 3E with this price tag, will make traveler switch back to 3A while Sleeper traveler may not switch to 3E but will find other SL train!!
