officials of the NGRI conducted a trial run of the survey at Sulthan Bathery in the district on Tuesday.
The aerial survey would be conducted by using a helicopter attached with electromagnetic instruments, sources said. It would fly at a height of 50 metres with the instruments. It would provide a high resolution 3D image of the sub-surface up to a depth of 500 metres below the ground, sources said.
The survey would assess the structure of soil, rock formations, underground water sources, and marshy lands, the sources said.
If the climate was be favourable, the survey would begin at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, the sources said. During the first phase, the survey would be conducted from Sulthan Bathery to Mananthavady and later, similar surveys would be held in Thalassery and Mysuru.
The state-of-the-art technology, heli survey technology, would also be used to map the map aquifers in the northwestern States of the country, sources said.

Kerala government has proposed to construct viaduct in the forest area. Else like in Konkan railway, tunnels can be created. Kabini area around 20 kms forest area that too on the periphery is involved. Railway line parallel to Mysore Mananthavady road can be made. After Bavali, no issues in Kerala side. Line can go via - Mananthavady Iritty to Thalassery. Branch line to Kozhikode also be possible.
With a single train from Malabar area to Bangalore, already people are suffering. Ban of night bus traffic in Muthanga/ Bandipur national parks for more than a decade created havoc.

the project is with KRCL, they will come out with amicable solution.
Atleast one line from Mysore to Kerala should be laid - Nilambur Nanjangud or Kadakola to Mananthavady or Mysore Kushalnagar Mattanur.
Without link to Kerala, Mysore will be dead end and will be dumping ground for all Bangalore trains. No development can be expected. If any of these links materialise, Kozhikode Bangalore can be covered in 9-10 hours. It will free up MAQ SRR line as well as SRR MAS line. More trains can be run from Kannur/ Kozhikode to Chennai Tirupati Vijayawada Hyderabad Pune etc.
Think of tourist traffic to Wayanad Mysore.
