sunilgaonkar 91 blog postsThe 17309/10 YPR VSG express orginates/terminates from YPR since 2001 when YPR was introduced as second terminal for SBC whereas before gauge conversion from MG to BG in 1997 this train use to originate/terminate from SBC. It would benefit the passengers to provide direct link from Bengaluru to Goa by extending this train from SBC instead of YPR.
I think also further speed up is possible by atleast 30 minutes for this train ie. 17310 VSG YPR express.
Another idea can be of extending Panchaganga express to VSG which anyways is brought to MAO for SM and then arranging an RSA between Panchaganga and VSG YPR express this will also fulfill the long pending demand for VSG to Karwar, Udupi and Mangalore area connection.

The departure timings from VSG should be 9 p.m. to arrive YPR by 7 a.m.
VSG to YPR in 10 hours ??
I don't think it's possible with such many halts.

Existing trains need to be speeded to achieve this potential.
YPR VSG in 10 hours means 66kph average speed. Not possible with this train with this many halts.
I don't even think even 55kph is possible for this train.
Max I feel 30 minutes speed up is possible for VSG YPR now.
