All loco have automatic braking, right?? LP or ALP are suppose to do something like sounding horn or resetting alarm every 30 seconds or something otherwise the loco will apply brakes by itself and send alert to signalling system blocking the section, right???
Not in this case. The duty time was hardly 5 hrs since their sign in. This defence was already checked during investigation. Nothing can save them.
Shortage of running staff is a real bottleneck railways is facing since two decades now. Overworking hours aren't the only issue in contrast to general perception. Any running staff is pre-informed about their overtime and can't be assigned without their consent. They can't be forced except during emergency situations where negative performances are too omitted. For every hour of overtime, running staffs get a healthy incentive(more than regular slab).

Yes lots of post vacant in IR in every department. Work is done by contractual workers in many departments. Work done by contractual staffs and workers cannot be 100% reliable RB must think.

Such punishment notice should not come on public forum like IRI. There is some oath of secrecy for each office. And that the running staff is overburdened and overworked is a fact known by all here. The same news could have been given here without posting the P.N. image as such
