I booked SBC to Jam via DR on 2 occasions.
Firstly, I booked 2 different tickets from SBC to DR (6530) and then DDR to JAM through IRCTC website. The total cost was 2460.00 for 2AC.
Second time - Went to counter and booked from SBC to JAM in the same above trains, But this time I was charged 1876.00
My question is...

why its there so much of difference in the ticket price?

SBC-DDR -> 1076 kms - 3AC fare - Rs. 958
DDR-JAM -> 817 kms - 3AC fare - Rs. 811
So total comes to Rs. 1769

to JAM using break journey rules the 3AC fare would come down to Rs. 1400 approx
But this can only be done at PRS counters.
A simple example.
Taxis or buses have a minimum rate. If the distance travelled is short the amount per KM will be higher than if u travel long distances.
