This train unnecessarily takes a longer route and a LR at Unchahar Jn. I think a shorter route exists directly from Dalmau, will easily save 1.5 hrs.
Prior covid there are 2 trains are running for RBL one at around 14:30 & this at round 16:30. But previous one was cancelled and this one is running. Previous one which departs at 14:30 is taking shorter route via Dalmau to Raibareli. And this one is taking this route from it's inception.
Did the previous train see less occupancy that it was canceled? There aren't many trains on this Loop track and I think, this is a shorter route than going via LKO.
Train remained fully packed from kanpur itself and have more rush than this train.
Another myopic decision taken by IR then. Canceling a good patronage service. Maybe what they needed to do was put in couple of TTE checkers if they felt that some people weren't purchasing tickets and that was causing revenue leakage instead of outright canceling the service.
