Shalimar is too far and is mainly used for SER trains. Reaching Shalimar is a hassle. Plus, most long-distance trains come to Howrah, so travelers won't have to travel the length of an already congested city to catch a connecting train.

Aur zyadaatar lambi duri ki trains HWH aati hai, toh travellers ko ek already bhari hui city mein dobara ek connecting train pakadne ke liye itna door jaane ki zarurat nahi padegi.
