Hello all, While booking Rail ticket through IRCTC, is it acceptable if i book a full seat for 2 kids of 6 years instead of booking 2 separate half seats for them. Please let me know who have this experience if yes is it necessary to produce any kind of proof.
Note: booking under SL class.
Thanks

Yes, you are right, but than having 2 full seats can i book single full seat..?
I can understand your concern that you need only one seat.. But railways don't think like that.. So you'll be needed to have two separate seats booked, although you will be charged half for both the tickets.. Its not possible to have one single seat for two persons..
Half ticket in the since they will not be alloted half berth only thing is they are being given concession till age of 12...They will be provided 2 full berths, have to book two tickets.
Being a parent of a 8-year-old, I understand your concerns. But, unfortunately, I think we have to book two tickets for two kids. IR does not term it half-ticket, it is one full seat/berth at subsidized fare, thats all. IR does not mind them going waste. Anyways it will not as the concerned TTE will grab those opportunities. Above 5 years, you do not necessarily carry an ID proof for the kids, though if they are booked as separate tickets, yes you have to.
