Dont think its new alternative Junction but existed earlier!! Track coming from UNA, after Morinda Junction bifurcate with one track going straight to New Morinda while other move towards CDG. Track further divert towards LDH & Sirhind after New Morinda!!
While there exist bend after New Morinda, towards Morinda Junction, which divert from New Morinda-Morinda Line & merge with Morinda Junction-CDG Line!!
This enable:
1.
...
Train from CDG can move LDH/Sirhind/Una Himachal without any reversal anywhere!!
2. Train from Una Himachal towards either LDH/CDG/Sirhind dont have to face any reversal!!
3. New Morinda controls movement of train towards LDH/Sirhind from CDG & /Una Himachal (after train crosses Morinda Junction, coming from Una)
4. Morinda Junction controls move of train coming from Una Himachal towards either CDG or New Morinda (from New Morinda, train can move Sirhind or LDH)
PS: Even when new LDH line wasnt created, a station/Block-Hut was required to control train movement inward & outward towards Morinda Jn or CDG bend!!

Yes, as i always wonder when i move LDH Bye-pass towards Chandigarh & u find:
1. LDH-UMB Line @ Doraha
2. A brand new Rail Bridge Underpass: LDH-CDG Line
3. One Rail Overbridge, while bye-passing Morinda (after New Morinda that line comes): post amalgamation of LDH/Sirhind line, but before CDG bend
4.
...
One more Overbridge, still @ Morinda Bye-pass, after New Morinda & Morinda Jn bend towards CDG!!
PS: One more joint exist, which u may or may not follow while in CDG & thats amalgamation of UNA & Kalka Line, just before CDG!! All this criss-cross to provide smooth Freight movement, with no reversal, as passenger service for Sirhind/CDG-UNA & LDH-CDG is quite minimal!!

Correction: Old route was CDG-New Morinda-Sirhind-LDH-ASR
New Route is: CDG-New Morinda-Samrala-LDH-ASR!
PS: In case train from CDG run to Morinda Jn, then it will need reversal to move towards Sirhind/LDH & CDG-ASR Exp never undertook reversal @ Morinda Jn ever!!
