From day one Basava Exp ran between Bagalkot and Yesvantpur, it was never extended from Bijapur and it always belonged to SWR, so no question of pit lane at SUR for maintenance. And it always had Rake sharing with YPR - MYS Malgudi Exp, Mysore - Dharwad Exp and then ran as Dharwad - Hubli Passenger where it's maintenance took place. Even after extending it to Mysore, the same rake run as Mysore - Dharwad Exp and then Dharwad - Hubli Exp for Maintenance.
No, at the start it was running as a Yeshwantpur-Bijapur Express and after guage conversion, it is running upto Bagalkot.
Oh ok, if it was that old, then I don't remember. When was the gauge conversion took place? And from when did Basava started from Bijapur? Coz as I remember Basava started running from BGK to YPR some 6 years ago...

Solapur - Gadag was a meter guage line which is now converted to broadguage.
In guage conversion Solapur - Hotagi line of Solapur - Bijapur meter guage was merged with mainline going towards South from Solapur and made Hotagi as a Junction instead of Solapur.
This guage conversion was completed in three steps.
