Several Kannada writers and activists in the city are lending their support to the ‘Namma Metro Hindi Beda’ campaign and looking at ways to involve citizens in the protest against the use of Hindi words in signage at metro stations.
“We are exploring the idea of getting citizens who support the campaign to wear black bands or badges while commuting on Namma Metro,” said Anand Guru from Banavasi Balaga. “It is still a fluid idea. We need to discuss and work out the modalities. Citizens will just be expressing their opinion silently and democratically. We will not be inviting any police action or disrupting any service,” he added.
a press conference on Sunday, activists, writers and playwrights, including P.V. Narayan, Prakash Belawadi and Chandrashekhar Patil, decried the treatment meted out to members of the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV) who were arrested after blackening Hindi signage outside metro stations recently.
Section 153A
They demanded that the cases booked under Section 153A (instigating clash between two communities) of the Indian Penal Code on the KRV members be withdrawn immediately, and also urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to transfer Praveen Sood, City Police Commissioner, for his “excessive action” against the KRV members, besides making the government’s stand on imposition of Hindi clear.
Kannada writer Chandrashekhar Patil said the activists would continue their agitation. Defending the KRV members, he said they had resorted to a symbolic protest and had not disrupted Namma Metro services. Echoing this, Mr. Narayan sought to know why the Centre was imposing Hindi and why other regional languages were not being given the same importance.
Stating that the police filing cases under Section 153A had “dangerous implications,” actor and playwright Prakash Belawadi said the State government was trying to create a divide among citizens. “This is an irresponsible and arrogant action by the government. Why is civil disobedience being treated so harshly?” he asked.
Mr. Guru sought to know why Mr. Siddaramaiah was not insisting on the removal of Hindi signage on Namma Metro, a State government project. “Is it because the State government wants to keep the issue alive and use it politically against the BJP? The NDA government may have sanctioned funds, but a majority of the funding has come from the State government,” he said.
M. Venkataswamy of Samata Sainik Dal, B.R. Bhaskar Prasad from the Federation of Karnataka Dalit Associations, Vasu of Karnataka Janashakti, Samirulla Khan from the Akhila Karnataka Mohamadeeyara Vedike, and Rafael Raj of Akhila Karnataka Catholic Christians Kannada Sangha also attended.

Namma Metro Ko Central Govt agar Black list kar diya aur North India mein rehne wala poora Kannad population ko jail mein daala toh Karnataka State Govt ka bura haal hone wala hain.
A huge Liguistic riots are going to take place. Karnataka vs Hindustan. ----------------
RSS & VHP have issued this statement today that If Anti Hindi agitation starts in Karnataka, then they will urge Central govt. to Black list Karnataka State Govt. & Bengaluru Metro. Also RSS & VHP willl target all Kannad population living in North India.
SAD. --------- Some people are agitating against the national language & some people are eager to target a specific lingual community .
Some one please file a PIL at Supreme Court in CJI's bench to stop Karnataka vs Hindustan case.

Pure politics nothing else. Main issue moves to the back seat and a non-issue enjoys the spotlight of so called intellectuals.

Apart from awards they can raise their so called voice :p
And people can easily get away saying things to anyone in the same country, hell there is quite large share of both for and against in this country for all the political sides. There are bullies and equal number of protestors too.
Anyways can't help if these activists start demanding a separate country for karnataka after some time, everything becomes fair in election here.

Do you think overall cost of LHB is higher than ICF?
State reasons for the same.

* Advantages of LHB coach - higher speed (200kmph), longer life, lesser weight, lesser haulage cost, better riding characteristics, anti telescopic anti-climbing features so safer and lesser casualties in event of accident.
* But cost of LHB cost is also more which is offset by its longer life & longer length. So over all LHB appears cost effective.
* But there is one factor which tilt the scale in favour of ICF coach (from cost point of view), that is LHB coaches are not SG and LHB train need 2 generator cars which
means reduction of 2.25 ICF coaches, and in addition a large quantity of diesel is burnt which is a costly as well as a polluting affair.
* The need of the hour is to have LHB train set configuration with arrangement to take cater the hotel load (AC,Light. Fan etc) from Over Head Electric Conductors so that advantages of better riding quality, safety, speed are retained without the disadvantages of power cars. In this case overall cost of LHB shall be lesser than ICF coaches. Alternatively SG version of LHB need to be developed.

SG coaches have issues, like the batteries charger and the increased weight makes them unfit for high speeds(check Hybrid LHB), it's better to have power cars and connections for the same. Anyways good attempt, expecting more points to be but up on the same.

Bang on!
0 to 60 WAP7 has no competition, but as you go towards higher speed WAp5 starts catching up, as higher speeds, P5 certainly has no competition at all :)
WAP7 can do 30 to 110 in 1 and half minutes hands down, provided full section clearance and speed restriction.

Jul 22 2017 (23:34)   Railways took Rs 11cr from passengers as 'superfast' surcharge, but trains delayed upto 95% times: CAG

Agra: North Central Railway (NCR) and South Central Railway (SCR) levied and collected Rs 11.17 crore from passengers as ‘superfast’ surcharges, but some of their superfast trains were delayed more than 95% times, said a CAG report tabled in Parliament on Friday.
According to the Railway Board, trains with average speed of 55 kmph or more come under the category of superfast trains.
A study of data on punctuality of superfast trains from 2013-14 to 2015-16 in NCR and SCR, however, revealed that such trains reached the destination late between 13.48% and 95.17%
of the days on which they ran. In total, 21 superfast trains were delayed on 3,000 days out of 16,804 days because they failed to attain the ‘superfast’ speed.
At present, there is no rule or policy to refund money if a train is delayed. Only when a person files a ticket deposit against reservation (TDR) against a train delayed for more than three hours is a refund possible.
According to the railways, ‘superfast’ surcharges vary for different class of coaches. For example, it is Rs 15 for general coaches, Rs 30 for sleeper, Rs 45 for AC (chair car, AC-3 economy, AC-3, AC-2 classes) and Rs 75 for AC First/Executive class which were effective from April 1, 2013
Agra divisional commercial manager Sanchit Tyagi said, “There are scores of factors which lead to trains not achieving their superfast speed, thus causing delays. Some the prominent factors are the maintenance of tracks, signal glitches, emergency brakes and accidents which contribute in the late operations of railways.”
Asked if the railways should not be returning passengers the so-called ‘superfast’ surcharges in such cases, Tyagi said, “There are no such rules or policy to refund money if a train is delayed, but when a passenger files a TDR (ticket deposit against reservation) against a train delayed for than three hours, then a refund is possible.”

The study on the movement of some of the superfast trains between 2013 and 2016 revealed that Kolkata-Agra Cantt Superfast (SF in railway jargon) was late 138 days out of 145. Similarly, Jaipur-Allahabad SF was late 68.34% out of 578 days of operations between 2014 and 2016. Lucknow-Agra Cantt SF was late 58.99% out of 851 days, Chhatrapati Shivaji- Hyderabad SF was late on 682 days out of 1,055, Guntur-Secundrabad SF was late 41.33% out of 1,096 days. The least delayed train among 21 selected was Kathgodam-Kanpur SF, which reported 13.48% late out of 141 days.

60 is good for a start as many trains nearing 60 will be phased out of this category and will force zonal Railways to rush to upgrade to atleast 60, not even 10% of trains being run in country are able to cross 65kmph end to end.
Another thing is about section controlling, it's a good time to out source this job since now a days it is very much affected by politics, they can atleast start by NCR.
