Hi everyone.finally got a chance to travel in the recently started "Mumbai Metro".so here i write a small report about the same.it all starts from mulund station.i take the CST slow for ghatkopar,it's the same kind of journey which i have been used to since a very long time.i alight at ghatkopar and take the FOB which directly takes me to the metro station.well when i reached the metro station it didn't look like one rather it appeared like a season sale at a store,there were people everywhere.they were fighting to get in and pass through the gates.the guards and the staff were just helpless.the station is well built and all the sign boards are well placed and they don't confuse you like the ones at Heathrow.i pass through security and get my ticket from the counter and proceed towards the gates.the staff members were urging people to make a queue...
but it was of no use.somehow i make my way out of that commotion and quickly reach the platform via the escalator.there i see a new shining rake,it was just gr8.i see the indicator and quickly get in and reserve a place.within mins announcement are made and the door is shut and we are ready to move.it starts well and soon gains speed.well for a moment i thought i was in some other country but after having a gaze outside the window and seeing the slums i came back to reality.the rakes are good and well maintained.the indicators and space within is also good.i just hoped if they could make the announcement more louder bcoz it was almost impossible to hear them bcoz of the huge chatter among the crowd.the staff was really good and helpful,they were at every station to see that people moved in and out properly.station passed very quickly and i was busy looking out of the window.the very best moment was when i passed WEH(western express highway),they have built a cable bridge there and also there is very less distance between the highway and the bridge,really a engineering marvel.well soon the metro made it to D.N. nagar and it was time to say goodbye.well truely speaking the chinese built metro has well adapted to the bambaiya climate.i left the station as a happy Mumbaikar :)

Nice trip report.Though this project was delayed by 5 years,but the excitement of Mumbaikars did not end..:) Reliance has done a wonderful job ensuring safety of passengers,cleanliness is maintained properly.

One more line should be constructed at Sawantwadi n should be made a Terminal just like Karmali, there is enough so that another line can be constructed here..

but again the process of acquiring land is a problem.its a important station and plans for its development are going on since a long time.i feel since the road connectivity is not good the chance to make it a terminal will be less.

Mere bhai pit line n main line ke beech one more track can be constructed its sufficient space to have another track.. No need to purchase land..
Yup road connectivity should be better..

The people of Bombay-Karnataka region are now hoping to get their long pending grievances and demands for comprehensive development of the railway network to connect the region with metros and other major cities of the country redressed from the Railway Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda.Of the major demands which leaders from all political parties, social organisations and various other professional bodies have been airing since long include construction of a direct railway line parallel to the Pune-Bangalore NH4 to connect Belgaum with Dharwad. Presently, the trains running through these two stations take a circuitous route via Londa and Alnavar and take at least 150 minutes to cover a distance of 121 km. Laying direct line between Belgaum and Dharwar via Kittur would reduce distance to just around 70 km and lot of time to the commuters and also help progress in economic activities and generate employment opportunities in various sectors too.
of the major proposals which the people have been demanding are connecting Kudachi-Bagalkot, Bijapur-Shahbad, Shimoga-Harihar, Talaguppa Honnavar and Gadag-Haveri and Bijapur-Basavakalyan lines.
“The people of the entire of our region have been demanding this, several agitations were held but suspended in view of the assurances given by successive Railway ministers, but no notable progress was achieved so far,” said Uttar Karnataka Samagra Abhivrudhi Vedike president Gurusiddappa Teggi here on Sunday.
Recently, a delegation led by Belgaum Chamber of Commerce and Industries Rajendra Kumar Harkuni met the Railway Minister to appraise him about the rail development needs of the region and presented a memorandum consisting of a list of proposals pending for implementation and demands to improve rail services at Belgaum, Dharwad and Hubli, the major cities of north Karnataka region. The demand included operating daily trains from Belgaum to Bengaluru city, Goa (via Londa) and to Solapur (via Miraj) and extension of Train No.11097/98 Pune-Ernakulam Poorna Express up to Thiruvananthapuram on daily basis.
